Experiment Writing Activity: Teacher Note
This is intended as a prompted writing activity to help students organize their results when doing scientific experiments. The idea behind a prompted writing activity is to give students cues for writing. Students can write out their results in the form, and if they have tables, charts, or pictures to add, they can ask the computer to leave room for them. Once the form is submitted, the prompts are removed and all that is left is what the students have written. This science process document provides guidelines for completing each of the steps in an experiment as well.
This activity was taken from an interactive hypermedia file which is a bit more fun since students click on a button for objective or data and then return to the cover page. For many teachers, this idea may be useful as the start of a word processing file, and for others it could be recreated as a HyperStudio stack or some other interactive form.
Students can also save the resulting HTML file (using the 'view source' command) for use in posting their own lab reports on your classroom's web site.
